Term Meaning
Appointment An appointment is a scheduled session that the user can book to address their healthcare needs with eMed clinicians via video, phone, or in person.
Consultation A consultation with a patient and a clinician is a session regarding health concerns which takes place during a booked appointment.
Contract (or consumer network) A contract (sometimes called a Consumer Network) refers to a set of configurations and offerings tailored to a group of users associated with an eMed partner.
ID token An ID token is a typically short-lived JWT generated by the partner to authenticate their users within the iframes, ensuring secure access and interaction.
Medium A medium is the method through which an appointment or consultation occurs between a patient and a clinician, and it can be conducted via video, phone, or in person.
Referral A medical referral is a formal request from one clinician to an external clinician, typically to transfer a patient’s care or seek specialised treatment or consultation.
Service type A service type refers to the specific need that a patient seeks assistance with when booking an appointment, which determines the kind of healthcare professional required to provide the necessary care. For instance, booking an appointment for a cough identifies a service type of various healthcare providers, including a General Practice (GP) doctor, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP), or a prescribing pharmacist.
